Northeast Regional World TB Day Conference

March 23 to 25, 2026

On behalf of Trudeau Institute, we are delighted to host the Northeast Regional World TB Day Conference from March 23 to 25, 2026, in Saranac Lake, New York. We welcome the return of the meeting to Trudeau Institute, where it originated in 2009. With the generous support of the Potts Foundation, we invite you to join us in the Cure Village of Saranac Lake, located in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. This meeting provides a valuable opportunity to showcase the Institute’s historic role as the nation’s first laboratory dedicated exclusively to tuberculosis research and to connect that legacy with current scientific priorities.

Tuberculosis remains the leading cause of death from a single infectious agent and represents a significant global public health challenge. Decades of sustained scientific effort have saved millions of lives, including an estimated 83 million since 2000, through advancements in diagnostics, treatments, and public health practices. However, substantial gaps persist. The century-old vaccine provides limited protection against adult pulmonary disease. Treatment regimens are lengthy and often thwarted by drug toxicity, side effects, and the increasing threat of antibiotic resistance. Continued progress relies on the dedicated work of researchers advancing inquiry across basic biology, clinical science, and public health.

The conference will maintain its interactive format, bringing together researchers and practitioners to address challenges and advancements in tuberculosis research across microbiology, immunology, epidemiology, and patient care. The objectives of this meeting are to:

1. Establish a structured forum for TB researchers to exchange the latest insights in clinical advances, epidemiology, and the fundamental biology of tuberculosis

2. Provide a venue for researchers to connect in an informal setting, fostering dialogue and strengthening both new and existing scientific collaborations

3. Review progress toward achieving the End TB Strategy as outlined by the World Health Organization.

The 2026 Northeast Regional World TB Day Conference will provide an opportunity to develop solutions that are meaningful not only to scientists and physicians engaged in this work but also to global communities affected by tuberculosis.

Looking forward to seeing you in Saranac Lake in March.

Warm Regards,

The Organizing Committee
